MohsHärtegrad refers to the Mohs scale of mineral hardness, a qualitative ordinal scale that ranks ten common minerals from softest to hardest. Developed by German mineralogist Friedrich Mohs in 1812, it is used to determine the relative scratch resistance of minerals. Each mineral on the scale can scratch any mineral that is lower on the scale. For example, a mineral with a Mohs hardness of 7 can scratch any mineral with a hardness of 6 or less.
