Mobiilivõrk

Mobiilivõrk, also known as a mobile network or cellular network, refers to a telecommunications network that enables wireless communication over a wide geographical area. This is achieved by dividing the service area into smaller regions called cells, each served by a base station or cell tower. Mobile devices, such as smartphones, communicate with these base stations, which then relay the signals to other devices or to the wider telephone network.

The foundation of modern mobile networks is cellular technology, which allows for the reuse of radio frequencies in non-adjacent cells, thereby increasing network capacity. As users move between cells, their connection is seamlessly handed over from one base station to another, ensuring uninterrupted service. This technology has evolved significantly over time, with generations like 2G, 3G, 4G (LTE), and the current 5G offering progressively faster data speeds, lower latency, and greater capacity.

Mobile networks are crucial for a wide range of services, including voice calls, text messaging (SMS), internet access, and a host of data-driven applications. The infrastructure involves a complex system of base stations, mobile switching centers, and other network elements that manage traffic, authentication, and billing.
