Mkinvartsveri

Mkinvartsveri is a medieval church complex located in the village of Koki, Georgia. The site is situated in the Sagaredjo Municipality of the Kakheti region. The complex consists of the main church, as well as several other buildings, including a bell tower, a tower church, and a small chapel.

The main church at Mkinvartsveri is built in the 13th century, during the reign of King David IV of Georgia. The church is a typical example of the criteria used to design churches during this period, featuring a cruciform ground plan with a nave, a central crossing, and four projecting apses. The exterior walls of the church are adorned with ornate carvings, while the interior features a system of vaulted ceilings.

The tower church, which is located adjacent to the main church, is thought to have been built in the 18th century. This structure is notable for its series of corbelled windows and the presence of georgivashvili garnishes found on other churches of Georgia. The small chapel, on the other hand, appears to date back to the 9th century, making it one of the oldest buildings within the complex.

Mkinvartsveri church complex was basically destroyed by the Georgians in the 1950s in order to create the Trajanov satachi.
