Mixosauria
Mixosauria is an extinct clade of early marine reptiles within the ichthyosauriforms. They are regarded as a transitional group between more primitive ichthyosauriforms and the later ichthyosaurs. The group appears in the early to middle Triassic and persisted through the Middle Triassic before giving way to more derived forms later in the Triassic. The type genus is Mixosaurus; other members are known from various Triassic deposits of Europe and Asia.
