Mitoyo

Mitoyo is a city located in Kagawa Prefecture, Japan. Situated on the northwestern coast of the island of Shikoku, Mitoyo faces the Seto Inland Sea. The city was established on March 1, 2006, through the merger of ten former towns and villages in the old Mitoyo District. This unification created a larger administrative area encompassing a diverse landscape, including coastal plains, hills, and some mountainous regions inland.

The geography of Mitoyo is characterized by its numerous islands, which are part of the Setouchi Islands. The most prominent of these islands is Awashima, known historically as a center for maritime training and currently a popular tourist destination.
