Mirigyszöveti

Mirigyszöveti refers to tissue of glandular origin. Glands are specialized organs or groups of cells that secrete substances, such as hormones, enzymes, mucus, or sweat, either into the bloodstream (endocrine glands) or into ducts that lead to a body surface or cavity (exocrine glands). Therefore, mirigyszöveti describes any tissue that is part of such a secretory structure.

The structure of glandular tissue varies depending on the specific gland and its function. It typically consists of secretory cells, which are responsible for producing and releasing the glandular product, and often supportive connective tissue, blood vessels, and nerves. The arrangement of these secretory cells can form acini (sac-like structures) or tubules.

Diseases or abnormalities involving mirigyszöveti can manifest in various ways. For example, benign or malignant tumors can arise from glandular tissue, known as adenomas or adenocarcinomas, respectively. Inflammation of glands, or adenitis, is another common condition. Changes in glandular tissue can also be associated with hormonal imbalances or functional disorders of specific glands. The study of glandular tissue and its diseases falls under the purview of histology and pathology.
