Millwatts
Millwatts is a unit of power equal to one-thousandth of a watt. The watt is the SI derived unit of power, defined as one joule of energy per second. Therefore, a milliwatt represents 0.001 joules per second. This unit is commonly used in electronics and telecommunications to measure the power output of low-power devices such as radio transmitters, audio amplifiers, and laser diodes. For instance, a small wireless mouse might transmit data at a power level of a few milliwatts. In optical communication, the power of light signals is often expressed in milliwatts. The prefix "milli" signifies a factor of 10^-3. This unit is practical for expressing power levels that are too small to be conveniently represented in watts alone, avoiding the use of many decimal places.
