Millikanin

Millikanin is the Turkish genitive form meaning “of Millikan” or “Millikan’s.” It is used in Turkish-language texts to refer to works, discoveries, or items associated with the surname Millikan, typically in reference to the physicist Robert A. Millikan. In standard Turkish orthography the possessive is often written Millikan’ın, but Millikanin may appear in texts where apostrophes are omitted or in nonstandard typography.

Robert A. Millikan (1868–1953) was an American experimental physicist renowned for the oil-drop experiment, which measured the elementary electric charge. Between 1909 and 1913 he refined a method to balance gravitational and electrical forces on tiny oil drops, enabling a determination of the charge of the electron. This work established the quantization of electric charge and earned him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1923. Millikan’s research contributed to the development of experimental physics in the United States and to the broader validation of precision measurement in physical science.
