Miljøverndepartementet
Miljøverndepartementet was a Norwegian government ministry responsible for environmental protection and conservation. Its primary role was to develop and implement policies related to nature management, pollution control, climate change adaptation, and sustainable resource use. The ministry worked to safeguard Norway's natural heritage, promote biodiversity, and ensure a healthy environment for present and future generations. It oversaw various environmental regulations, international cooperation on environmental issues, and funding for research and development in environmental fields. The ministry also played a crucial part in Norway's efforts to meet its climate targets and promote a green economy. In 2013, the Miljøverndepartementet was merged with the Ministry of Climate and Energy to form the new Ministry of Climate and Environment. This merger aimed to consolidate climate and environmental efforts under a single governmental body to enhance policy coherence and effectiveness.
