Miljøfarlig

Miljøfarlig is a Norwegian term used to describe substances or mixtures that pose a hazard to the environment. In practical terms, a miljøfarlig substance can cause harm to aquatic life, terrestrial organisms, or ecosystems if released into air, soil, or water. The term is commonly used on labels and safety documentation to signal environmental risk and to justify precautionary handling measures.

Regulatory context: Environmental hazards are part of chemical classification systems such as the EU's Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) Regulation. In Norwegian usage, miljøfarlig corresponds to the environmental hazard categories that may trigger warnings, the environmental hazard pictogram, and specific risk phrases.
