Mfantsiman

Mfantsiman is a former municipality and now a district within the Central Region of Ghana. It was carved out of the Cape Coast Metropolitan District in 2007. The district is named after the Fante people, who are the dominant ethnic group in the region and have a rich cultural heritage. Its administrative capital is Mankessim.

The economy of Mfantsiman is largely agrarian, with a significant focus on fishing and small-scale agriculture. The coastal location makes fishing a vital livelihood for many residents. Other economic activities include trading, small business enterprises, and some manufacturing. The district is known for its vibrant markets, particularly in Mankessim, which is a major commercial hub.

Mfantsiman boasts a number of historical and cultural sites. The Fante traditional council plays a significant role in the governance and cultural preservation of the area. The district is also home to educational institutions, including secondary schools, that contribute to the human resource development of the region.
