Metyyliersterit

Metyyliersterit, known scientifically as methyl esters, are organic compounds formed through the esterification of carboxylic acids with methanol. They are a subclass of esters characterized by the presence of a methyl group attached to the carbonyl carbon of the ester functional group. These compounds are prevalent in nature and are synthesized industrially for various applications.

The general chemical formula for a methyl ester is RCOOCH3, where R represents an alkyl or aryl group.
