Metsähallituss

Metsähallitus is a Finnish state-owned enterprise responsible for the sustainable management of state-owned forests and other natural resources. It operates as a service enterprise, generating revenue through the responsible use of natural resources such as timber harvesting, hunting and fishing licenses, and quarrying. The income generated is then reinvested into forest management, conservation, and the development of recreational services.

The core mission of Metsähallitus is to balance economic use, biodiversity conservation, and the recreational and cultural values of natural areas. It manages a vast territory, comprising approximately 12 million hectares of land and inland waters, which is about one-third of Finland's land area.
