Metoksibentseeni

Metoksibentseeni, also known as anisoli, is an organic compound with the chemical formula C7H8O. It is a clear, colorless liquid with a characteristic sweet, anise-like odor. The molecule consists of a benzene ring to which a methoxy group (-OCH3) is attached.

Metoksibentseeni is primarily synthesized through the Williamson ether synthesis, reacting sodium phenoxide with methyl halide, or by the methylation of phenol. It is sparingly soluble in water but miscible with most organic solvents such as ethanol and diethyl ether.

Industrially, metoksibentseeni finds applications as a solvent, particularly for resins, oils, and waxes. It is also used as an intermediate in the synthesis of perfumes, pharmaceuticals, and dyes. Its pleasant aroma makes it a component in fragrance formulations. Due to its relatively low toxicity and good solvency properties, it is considered a safer alternative to some other aromatic solvents in certain applications.
