Membranventiler

Membranventiler, also known as diaphragm valves, are a type of industrial valve used to control the flow of fluids or gases. They are characterized by a flexible diaphragm that separates the fluid from the valve's operating mechanism. This diaphragm is typically made of rubber, PTFE, or other resilient materials. The valve's operation involves compressing the diaphragm against a weir or saddle within the valve body, thereby restricting or stopping the flow.

The primary advantage of membranventiler lies in their leak-tight shut-off capability. The diaphragm creates a seal against the valve body, preventing external leakage. This makes them particularly suitable for handling corrosive, abrasive, or viscous fluids, as well as applications where purity is critical. The absence of crevices and sliding parts also minimizes the risk of contamination and makes them easier to clean and maintain.

Membranventiler are often used in chemical processing, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage industries, and water treatment. They can be operated manually by a handwheel, or automatically through pneumatic, hydraulic, or electric actuators. Their simple design and robust construction contribute to their reliability and longevity in various demanding environments. Different designs of diaphragm valves exist, including weir-type and straight-through types, each offering specific flow characteristics and sealing properties.
