Meiosirmãos
Meios-irmãos refers to individuals who share one biological parent but not the other. This means they have the same mother and a different father, or the same father and a different mother. The term is used in contrast to "irmãos completos" (full siblings), who share both parents. The relationship between meios-irmãos is recognized in many legal and social contexts, although its specific implications can vary by culture and jurisdiction. They are considered family and often share common upbringing experiences if their parents are in a blended family situation. While they may not have the same genetic inheritance from both parents as full siblings, they still share a familial bond. The term is commonly used in Portuguese-speaking countries.
