Mehhanosaurus

Mehhanosaurus is a genus of titanosaurian sauropod dinosaur from the Late Cretaceous period. Its fossils have been discovered in the Maevarano Formation of Madagascar. The genus was first described in 2007 byjid and colleagues. The type species, Mehhanosaurus dicroei, is the only known species within this genus.

Mehhanosaurus was a large, herbivorous quadrupedal dinosaur. Estimates of its size suggest it was a substantial animal, though precise measurements are difficult due to the incomplete nature of its remains. Like other titanosaurs, it possessed a long neck and tail, and its body was supported by thick, pillar-like legs. The discovery of Mehhanosaurus in Madagascar is significant as it contributes to the understanding of dinosaur diversity on the island during the Cretaceous. Madagascar's isolation led to the evolution of unique fauna, and Mehhanosaurus is part of this distinct lineage.

The Maevarano Formation, where Mehhanosaurus was found, is rich in fossils and has yielded other notable dinosaur species, including predators and smaller herbivores.
