Mehdia
Mehdia is a small coastal town in north‑western Morocco, located in the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma region. It lies approximately 30 kilometres south of the city of Tangier and sits on the Atlantic Ocean, where the beautiful Atlantic coast meets the surrounding Atlas foothills. The town’s name is derived from the Arabic word for “beloved” and the area has been inhabited since Phoenician times, with Roman and Muslim layers visible in local archaeological sites.
