Megfigyelhetőség refers to the degree to which the internal state of a system can be inferred from knowledge of its external outputs. In simpler terms, it's about how well you can understand what's happening inside a complex system by just looking at what it's doing on the outside. This concept is particularly important in fields like control theory, software engineering, and diagnostics.

For a system to be observable, it must be possible to determine its state at any given time based on measurements taken from its outputs over a finite period. If a system is not observable, then certain internal states might be impossible to discern, regardless of how much data you collect from its outputs. This can lead to a lack of understanding of the system's behavior, making it difficult to diagnose problems or predict future performance.

In practice, observability is often assessed by analyzing the system's mathematical model. For linear systems, this typically involves checking the rank of the observability matrix. If the matrix has full rank, the system is observable. For non-linear systems, the analysis is more complex.

Improving observability can involve adding more sensors or measurement points, refining existing measurement techniques, or developing more sophisticated algorithms to interpret the available data. Enhanced observability is crucial for effective monitoring, troubleshooting, and control of complex systems, ultimately leading to more reliable and efficient operation.
