Medialaan

Medialaan was a Belgian media company that operated from 2014 to 2018. It was formed through the merger of SBS Belgium and De Vijver Media. The company was a significant player in the Flemish television and radio landscape, owning and operating several popular channels.

Its main television channels included VTM, 2BE, VTMKZoom, Vitaya, and CAZ. VTM was its flagship commercial channel, known for its Flemish productions, news, and entertainment programs. 2BE was a youth-oriented channel, while VTMKZoom focused on children's programming. Vitaya offered lifestyle and documentary content, and CAZ was a general entertainment channel. Medialaan also had a strong presence in radio, with stations like Qmusic and JOE fm being widely listened to.

In 2018, Medialaan merged with Luminus, a Belgian energy company, and was subsequently renamed DPG Media. This merger created a larger media and technology group with diverse business interests. The original television channels and radio stations continue to operate under the DPG Media umbrella, maintaining their established brands and programming. The legacy of Medialaan lies in its contribution to the Belgian media market and its role in shaping the country's broadcasting industry before its integration into the larger DPG Media group.
