Maßstabsgetreuheit is a German term that translates to "scale fidelity" or "true to scale." It refers to the accuracy with which a representation, such as a model, map, or drawing, maintains the proportional relationships of the original object or area it depicts. In essence, everything in the representation is reduced or enlarged by the same factor.

This concept is crucial in various fields. In cartography, map scales like 1:10,000 indicate that one unit on the map represents 10,000 units in reality, and this ratio must be consistent across the entire map for it to be maßstabsgetreu. In model building, whether it's architectural models, model trains, or miniature vehicles, maßstabsgetreu means that all components are scaled down by the same percentage from their real-world counterparts, preserving their relative sizes and shapes.
