Maxill

Maxill is a combining form in medical terminology derived from the Latin maxilla, the upper jaw bone. It denotes a relation to the maxilla or the upper jaw region and is used chiefly in compound terms that describe anatomy, pathology, and procedures involving the upper jaw or surrounding structures.

In practice, maxill- appears in several well-established terms. Maxillofacial describes the jaw and face as a functional unit and is the basis for the surgical specialty of maxillofacial surgery, which addresses conditions affecting the maxilla, jaw, mouth, and related soft tissues.
