Matnlar

Matnlar is Uzbek for "texts" or "passages," a broad term covering any written material that conveys meaning. It is used in literary, linguistic, and educational contexts; the form and function of matnlar vary across genres and media, from classical poetry to online articles.

In linguistics, a matn is a contiguous stretch of language with coherence and context. Analysts study its structure, cohesion, discourse markers, and genre conventions. Texts are analyzed as units larger than sentences and can be annotated for syntax, semantics, pragmatics, and stylistic features.

In education, matnlar are reading passages used for language development and literacy assessment. They are classified by genre—narrative, descriptive, expository, argumentative, and poetic—and by difficulty. Teachers select matnlar to illustrate grammar points, introduce vocabulary, and foster critical reading.
