Mansfeld

Mansfeld is a municipality in the Mansfelder Land district in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt. It is situated on the northern edge of the Mansfeld hill country, approximately 12 kilometers west of Eisleben and 20 kilometers northwest of Halle. The town is historically significant as the ancestral seat of the Counts of Mansfeld, a prominent noble family in medieval Germany. The ruins of Mansfeld Castle, once a powerful fortress, still stand as a testament to this history.
