Malilipot

Malilipot is a municipality located in the province of Albay in the Bicol Region of the Philippines. It is situated in the southwestern part of Albay, approximately 25 kilometers from the provincial capital, Legazpi City. The municipality is bordered by Camalig to the north, Tabaco City to the east, Guinobatan to the west, and Ligao City to the south.

The etymology of Malilipot is believed to come from the local Bicolano dialect. While the exact origin is debated, one common explanation suggests it derives from "malipot," meaning "cold" or "chilly," possibly due to the region's cooler climate or the presence of cold springs. Another interpretation links it to the word "lipot," referring to a type of vine.

The economy of Malilipot is primarily agricultural, with rice farming and abaca cultivation being significant sources of livelihood. The municipality also engages in livestock raising and fishing.
