Malba

Malba, commonly rendered MALBA, refers to the Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires, a museum devoted to modern and contemporary art from Latin America. It was established to collect, preserve, study, and exhibit Latin American art from the 20th and 21st centuries.

Located in Buenos Aires' Palermo neighborhood, the museum occupies a contemporary building near other cultural institutions. It was founded in 2001 by Argentine businessman Eduardo Constantini and is operated by the Fundación MALBA. The mission is to promote Latin American art through its permanent collection, rotating exhibitions, and educational programs.

Permanent collection: The MALBA holds a representative survey of Latin American modern art, with works spanning painting, sculpture, video, and other media. The collection emphasizes artists and movements that shaped the region’s modern cultural landscape and includes material from several Latin American countries.

Outreach and programs: In addition to its galleries, MALBA runs a program of temporary exhibitions, film screenings, educational activities for schools and families, and a research library. The museum has become an internationally recognized hub for Latin American art, attracting scholars, collectors, and visitors from around the world.
