Maksuvalmiutensa

Maksuvalmiutensa is the Finnish term for the state or condition of being ready to pay, i.e., the liquidity or payment readiness of an entity. In finance, it describes the ability to meet financial obligations as they come due, without needing to sell assets at unfavorable prices or rely on external financing. It is a central concept in corporate finance, banking, and household budgeting, reflecting an entity’s short-term ability to cover liabilities.

The word derives from maksaa (to pay) and valmius (readiness), with the possessive suffix -ensa to indicate 'its readiness to pay'. It is commonly used in Finnish financial reporting, analyses, and regulatory discussions to express near-term payment capacity.

In practice, liquidity is assessed with measures and forecasts. Common indicators include the current ratio, quick ratio, and cash ratio, together with projected operating cash flow and the ability to service debt. The concept is used to evaluate and compare entities, manage liquidity risk, and inform lending decisions. A strong liquidity position supports stable operations and easier financing, while a weak position can indicate potential funding gaps and higher financing costs. It is related to solvency (longer-term financial strength) and to broader liquidity, or likviditeetti, in Finnish.
