Magnesiumhalogeniid
Magnesiumhalogeniid is a chemical compound that consists of magnesium and a halogen element. Halogens are elements from Group 17 of the periodic table, such as fluorine, chlorine, bromine, and iodine. When magnesium, a metal from Group 2, reacts with a halogen, it forms an ionic compound. The resulting magnesiumhalogeniid will have the general formula MgX₂, where 'X' represents one of the halogen elements. For example, magnesium chloride has the formula MgCl₂, magnesium bromide is MgBr₂, and magnesium fluoride is MgF₂.
These compounds are typically crystalline solids at room temperature and are often soluble in water, although
