Magneettivuotokenttä

Magneettivuotokenttä, often translated as magnetic leakage field or stray magnetic field, refers to the portion of a magnetic field that extends outside of a magnetic material or a region where a magnetic field is intentionally concentrated. In practical terms, it's the magnetic field that "leaks" into the surrounding environment. This phenomenon is particularly relevant in the context of magnetic circuits, such as those found in transformers, electric motors, and electromagnets.

The presence of a magneettivuotokenttä is a consequence of the fact that magnetic field lines always form closed loops. While a material like iron is used to guide and concentrate the magnetic flux within a magnetic circuit, it's not perfectly efficient.
