Maaßels

Maasels, also known as measles, is a highly contagious viral infection caused by the measles virus. It is characterized by a distinctive rash and is one of the most contagious viral diseases. The virus is transmitted through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Incubation period for measles is typically 10-14 days, during which the individual may not show any symptoms.

Symptoms of measles usually begin with high fever, cough, runny nose, and red, watery eyes. This is followed by the characteristic Koplik spots on the inside of the cheeks, which are small, white spots with blue-white centers. The most distinctive feature of measles is the rash, which appears as flat red spots that turn into raised bumps and eventually scab over. The rash typically starts on the face and spreads down the body.

Measles is a vaccine-preventable disease. The measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine is highly effective in preventing the disease. However, outbreaks can still occur in unvaccinated populations or in areas with low vaccination rates.

Complications from measles can be severe and include pneumonia, encephalitis, and diarrhea. In rare cases, measles can be fatal, particularly in young children and individuals with weakened immune systems. Prompt diagnosis and treatment with antiviral medications can help reduce the severity of the disease.

Prevention of measles involves vaccination, isolation of infected individuals, and public health measures to control outbreaks. Education about the importance of vaccination and the risks of measles is crucial in controlling the spread of the disease.
