Maadoitusliitäntä

Maadoitusliitäntä is a Finnish term that translates to "grounding connection" or "earthing connection" in English. It refers to a point or terminal in an electrical system where a connection is made to the earth or ground. This connection is crucial for electrical safety and the proper functioning of various electrical equipment.

The primary purpose of a maadoitusliitäntä is to provide a safe path for fault currents to flow to the ground. If an electrical fault occurs, such as a live wire touching a metal casing, the maadoitusliitäntä ensures that the electricity is directed away from people and into the earth, preventing electric shock. This also helps to trip protective devices like circuit breakers or fuses, thereby disconnecting the power supply.

In a typical domestic electrical installation, the maadoitusliitäntä is often represented by a green and yellow wire, which connects various metal components of appliances and the electrical installation to the main earthing terminal.
