Mémorial

Mémorial is a French noun (masculine) that denotes a monument or site established to preserve the memory of a person, group, or event. In French and broader usage, the term is applied to structures dedicated to remembrance as well as to institutions that present or study a subject for the public.

Memorials take many forms: statues, walls listing names, plaques, gardens, or museums. They are designed to honor victims or commemorate historical events and to provide a place for reflection or education.
