Lümfoidkudede

Lümfoidkudede is the Estonian term for lymphoid tissue. This specialized connective tissue is a crucial component of the lymphatic system, which plays a vital role in the body's immune defenses. Lymphoid tissue is characterized by the presence of lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell, and other immune cells, often aggregated within a reticular network.

There are two main types of lymphoid tissue: primary and secondary. Primary lymphoid organs, such as the bone marrow and thymus, are where lymphocytes are produced and mature. Secondary lymphoid organs, including lymph nodes, the spleen, tonsils, and Peyer's patches in the intestines, are sites where mature lymphocytes encounter antigens and initiate immune responses.

Lymphoid tissue functions by filtering blood and lymph, trapping foreign substances like bacteria, viruses, and abnormal cells. Within these tissues, lymphocytes are activated and proliferate, leading to the development of adaptive immunity. The reticular network provides a structural framework and supports the movement and interaction of immune cells. This intricate system ensures that the body can effectively recognize and defend against a wide range of pathogens.
