Lümfikude

Lümfikude is a type of connective tissue found throughout the body. It is a component of the lymphatic system, which plays a crucial role in the immune system and fluid balance. Lümfikude is characterized by the presence of lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell that fights infection. These lymphocytes are supported by a network of reticular fibers, which form a mesh-like structure.

There are two main types of lümfikude: diffuse lümfikude and lymphoid follicles. Diffuse lümfikude consists of a scattered arrangement of lymphocytes and other immune cells within a connective tissue matrix. This type is found in various locations, including the lamina propria of the digestive tract and respiratory system. Lymphoid follicles, also known as lymphatic nodules, are more organized structures. They are dense aggregations of lymphocytes, often with a germinal center where B lymphocytes proliferate. Lymphoid follicles are characteristic of lymph nodes, spleen, and tonsils.

The primary functions of lümfikude are immune surveillance and the production and maturation of lymphocytes. In lymph nodes, lümfikude filters lymph, trapping foreign particles and pathogens, and initiating an immune response. In the spleen, it filters blood. Lümfikude is essential for the body's defense against disease and for maintaining tissue fluid homeostasis by returning excess interstitial fluid to the circulation.
