Lämpötilalähteet refer to the origins or causes of temperature variations. Understanding these sources is crucial in various scientific and practical fields, including physics, meteorology, engineering, and biology.

In a natural context, primary temperature sources include solar radiation, which is the dominant factor driving Earth's surface temperature. Geothermal energy, originating from the Earth's interior, is another significant source, particularly in volcanic regions or for deep underground environments. Atmospheric processes also contribute, such as heat generated by friction in the air, or the latent heat released or absorbed during phase changes of water (evaporation, condensation). Ocean currents play a vital role in distributing heat globally, thus influencing regional temperatures.

In manufactured environments, artificial temperature sources are common. Electrical resistance heating, where electrical current flowing through a conductor generates heat, is a widely used method for warming buildings and industrial processes. Combustion, the rapid chemical reaction between a substance and an oxidant, typically oxygen, to produce heat and light, is another important artificial source, utilized in engines, power plants, and heating systems. Friction between moving parts in machinery also generates heat, which can be a source of unwanted temperature increase or a deliberate heating mechanism.

The study of temperature sources helps in predicting weather patterns, designing climate control systems, understanding ecological responses to temperature changes, and developing efficient energy utilization strategies.
