Lämpönsiirtoprosessi refers to the transfer of thermal energy from one place or object to another. This transfer occurs due to a temperature difference. Heat naturally flows from a region of higher temperature to a region of lower temperature. There are three primary mechanisms by which heat transfer can occur: conduction, convection, and radiation.

Conduction is the transfer of heat through direct contact of particles. In solids, heat is conducted when vibrating atoms or molecules collide with their neighbors, passing on kinetic energy. In metals, free electrons also contribute significantly to conduction. This process is dominant in solid materials where there is no bulk movement of the material itself.

Convection involves the transfer of heat through the movement of fluids, which can be liquids or gases. When a fluid is heated, it becomes less dense and rises, while cooler, denser fluid sinks. This creates convection currents that circulate and distribute heat throughout the fluid. Convection can be natural, driven by density differences, or forced, where an external force like a fan or pump moves the fluid.

Radiation is the transfer of heat through electromagnetic waves, primarily infrared radiation. Unlike conduction and convection, radiation does not require a medium to propagate and can travel through a vacuum, such as the space between the Sun and the Earth. All objects with a temperature above absolute zero emit thermal radiation. The rate of radiation emission depends on the object's temperature and surface properties. Understanding these three processes is crucial in various fields, including engineering, physics, and everyday life, to design efficient heating and cooling systems, insulate buildings, and analyze many natural phenomena.
