Lämpönsiirtomekanismi refers to the processes by which thermal energy is transferred from one object or region to another. There are three primary mechanisms of heat transfer: conduction, convection, and radiation.

Conduction is the transfer of heat through direct contact between particles. In solids, this occurs as vibrations pass from one atom or molecule to another. In liquids and gases, it involves collisions between these particles. Materials that readily conduct heat are called conductors, while those that resist heat flow are called insulators.

Convection is the transfer of heat through the movement of fluids (liquids or gases). When a fluid is heated, it becomes less dense and rises, while cooler, denser fluid sinks. This creates a circulating current that transfers heat. Convection can be natural, driven by density differences, or forced, as with a fan or pump.

Radiation is the transfer of heat through electromagnetic waves. Unlike conduction and convection, radiation does not require a medium and can travel through a vacuum. All objects with a temperature above absolute zero emit thermal radiation. The hotter an object, the more radiation it emits. Examples include heat from the sun or heat felt from a campfire.

Understanding these heat transfer mechanisms is crucial in various fields, including engineering, physics, and everyday life, influencing the design of buildings, engines, and cooking methods.
