Lämmitysjäähdytys, also known as heat pump, is a device that transfers heat from one location to another. It operates on the principle of the refrigeration cycle, which involves the compression and expansion of a refrigerant. In heating mode, the heat pump extracts heat from the outside air and transfers it indoors, providing warmth. Conversely, in cooling mode, it removes heat from indoors and releases it outside, creating a cooler environment. Heat pumps are highly efficient, as they can move multiple units of heat for every unit of electrical energy consumed, making them an energy-efficient alternative to traditional heating and cooling systems. They are commonly used in residential, commercial, and industrial applications, contributing to reduced energy consumption and lower greenhouse gas emissions. The efficiency of a heat pump is often measured by its coefficient of performance (COP), which is the ratio of the heat output to the electrical input. Modern heat pumps can achieve COPs of 3 or higher, making them a sustainable choice for heating and cooling needs.
