Lofsöngur
Lofsöngur, also known as "Ó, Guð vors lands" (O, God of our land), is the national anthem of Iceland. The lyrics were written by Matthías Jochumsson and the music was composed by Sveinbjörn Sveinbjörnsson. The poem was first published in 1874 to commemorate the 1000th anniversary of Iceland's settlement. It was officially adopted as the national anthem in 1944.
