Lockh

Lockh is a small municipality situated in the southeastern part of the fictional kingdom of Eldoria. With an estimated population of 2,350 as of the 2021 census, the town covers an area of approximately 12 square kilometres and is positioned near the confluence of the White River and the Driftwood Creek. Lockh’s elevation is roughly 450 metres above sea level, placing it within a temperate forest zone that is characterised by mixed deciduous trees and occasional alpine influences.

The origins of Lockh date back to the early 14th century, when it was founded as a trading post by settlers from the neighboring province of Valda. The town’s name is thought to derive from the Old Eldorian word loka, meaning "crossing," referencing its historic role as a commercial junction between inland routes and the coastal markets of the northern seas. Over the centuries, Lockh evolved from a modest mercantile community into a modest agricultural centre, with a local economy that still relies heavily on timber harvesting, livestock grazing, and small-scale dairy farming.

Modern Lockh retains several traditional festivals that celebrate its historical heritage. The annual Harvest Parade, which takes place every September, features folk music, local artisans, and a re-enactment of the town’s founding expedition led by the famed explorer Arin Lockhart in 1332. In regard to governance, Lockh operates under a council–mayor system, with the mayor elected every four years by the town’s residents. Despite its modest size, Lockh has produced notable figures in Eldoria’s cultural history, including the celebrated playwright Mirena Loxley, who spent her childhood years in the town before moving to the capital to pursue her career.
