Liuottumaan

Liuottumaan is a Finnish verb meaning to become dissolved or to enter into solution. In scientific use, it denotes the process by which a solute disperses in a solvent to form a homogeneous mixture. During dissolution, solute particles separate and interact with solvent molecules, overcoming some of the forces holding the solute together and forming new interactions with the solvent. The overall change in energy can be endothermic or exothermic depending on the system.
