Lipponese

Lipponese is a dialect of the German language spoken in the Westphalia region of Germany. It is considered part of the Low German dialects, also known as Plattdeutsch. The term "Lipponese" specifically refers to the dialect spoken in the area around the Lippe river. Historically, Lipponese shares many characteristics with other Westphalian dialects, including distinct pronunciation patterns and vocabulary that differentiate it from High German.

While Low German dialects were once widely spoken across northern Germany, their usage has declined significantly over the past century due to factors such as increased urbanization, mandatory schooling in High German, and the pervasive influence of standardized German media.
