Lipidkészlet

Lipidkészlet refers to the stored amount of lipids within an organism. Lipids are a broad group of naturally occurring molecules that include fats, waxes, sterols, fat-soluble vitamins (such as vitamins A, D, E, and K), monoglycerides, diglycerides, triglycerides, and phospholipids. In biological systems, the primary form of lipid storage is triglycerides, which are stored in specialized cells called adipocytes, forming adipose tissue.

The lipidkészlet serves several crucial functions. It acts as a major long-term energy reserve. When the body's energy demands exceed immediate glucose availability, stored triglycerides are broken down into fatty acids and glycerol, which can then be used as fuel.
