Lingotto is a district in Turin, Piedmont, Italy, located on the southern edge of the city along the Po River. It developed around the Lingotto factory, a large Fiat automobile plant built in the early 20th century and opened in 1923. The factory was one of Europe’s largest car plants at the time and became famous for its innovative design, which included a multi-story assembly line and a rooftop test track that allowed cars to be tested after assembly without leaving the building.
