Lihasaktiot, known in English as muscle actions, refer to the processes by which muscles contract and relax to produce movement. These actions are fundamental to virtually all bodily functions, from walking and breathing to maintaining posture and circulating blood. The primary mechanism behind muscle action involves the interaction of two key proteins, actin and myosin, within muscle fibers.

When a nerve impulse reaches a muscle fiber, it triggers a series of chemical events. Calcium ions are released, which in turn allow the actin and myosin filaments to bind. This binding initiates a "sliding" motion where myosin heads pull on actin filaments, shortening the muscle fiber. This shortening is the contraction phase.

For the muscle to relax, the nerve impulse must cease, and calcium ions are pumped back into storage. This detachment of actin and myosin filaments allows the muscle fiber to return to its resting length. Muscles can act in opposing pairs, such as the biceps and triceps, to produce controlled movements in opposite directions. This coordinated effort ensures smooth and precise locomotion and manipulation of the environment.
