Liebenwerda

Liebenwerda is a town in the Elbe-Elster district of Brandenburg, Germany. It is situated on the Elbe River, approximately 50 kilometers northwest of Dresden and 90 kilometers southeast of Berlin. The town's history dates back to the 13th century, with its first documented mention in 1229. Liebenwerda developed as a market town and later became an administrative center.

The town is known for its historical architecture, including the Liebwerda Castle, a former ducal residence, and the town church. The castle has undergone several renovations throughout its history and now houses a museum.
