Lidköping

Lidköping is a locality and the seat of Lidköping Municipality in Västra Götaland County, Sweden. It lies on the southern shore of Lake Vänern, in the province of Västergötland. The town serves as a regional center for commerce, education and culture, and is known for its historical town centre and lakeside setting.

Historically, Lidköping traces its origins to medieval times and grew as a trading port on Vänern. It received its city rights in the late Middle Ages, and over centuries developed as a market town with crafts and shipping. The nearby Läckö Castle, a prominent historic fortress on the shores of Lake Vänern, has long been associated with the region's history and tourism.
