Lidaraltimétriques

Lidaraltimétriques refers to altimetric lidar systems, which are a type of lidar technology specifically designed for measuring heights and elevations. Lidar, an acronym for Light Detection and Ranging, uses pulsed laser light to measure distances to the Earth's surface or other objects. Altimetric lidar focuses on determining the vertical position of these measurements, providing crucial data for topographic mapping, elevation models, and a variety of geospatial applications.

These systems typically employ a laser scanner mounted on an aircraft or drone. As the platform flies, the lidar unit emits laser pulses towards the ground. By precisely measuring the time it takes for these pulses to return after reflecting off the surface, the system calculates the distance. When combined with the known position and orientation of the sensor, this information allows for the creation of highly accurate three-dimensional representations of the terrain.

The data generated by lidaraltimétriques can distinguish between ground surface, vegetation, and man-made structures, allowing for the creation of digital terrain models (DTMs) and digital surface models (DSMs). DTMs represent the bare earth elevation, while DSMs include all features on the surface. This capability makes lidaraltimétriques invaluable for applications such as flood modeling, urban planning, forestry management, and geological surveys.
