Lexikale

Lexikale is a term used in linguistic and lexicographic contexts to denote the lexicon of a language—the organized inventory of its lexical items and their forms. It can function as an adjective meaning “relating to the lexicon,” and less commonly as a proper noun for a specific lexical resource or dataset. The word draws from the Latin-based tradition of naming lexical concepts and is encountered mainly in academic discussions that borrow Latin-derived forms. In English, the form lexikale is rare and tends to appear in cross-linguistic or theoretical writings rather than everyday usage.

In practice, lexikale resources are structured collections of lexical items that include lemmas with their inflected forms, parts of speech, senses or meanings, etymology, usage notes, and sometimes frequency data. Such resources underpin lexicography and many natural language processing tasks, including morphological analysis, word-sense disambiguation, and semantic parsing. They are frequently linked to corpora and other annotated data to provide contextual information and to support cross-linguistic comparison.
