Levylämmönvaihtimessa

Levylämmönvaihdin, or plate heat exchanger in English, is a device used to efficiently transfer heat between two fluids. It consists of a series of thin, corrugated metal plates stacked together. These plates are typically made of stainless steel or other corrosion-resistant alloys. The corrugations create channels for the fluids to flow through, and they also increase the surface area available for heat transfer.

The two fluids, one hot and one cold, flow through alternating channels between the plates. Heat is transferred from the hotter fluid to the colder fluid through the thin metal plates. Because the plates are very thin and the surface area is large, the heat transfer is very efficient. Gaskets are used between the plates to prevent leakage and to direct the flow of each fluid into its designated channels.

Plate heat exchangers are widely used in various industries due to their compact size, high thermal efficiency, and ease of maintenance. They are commonly found in applications such as HVAC systems, refrigeration, food and beverage processing, chemical processing, and power generation.
